Summer Class

experience true downeast maine

August 17 - 23, 2025

 2025 Class

Eastport is tucked as far north and east as you can go in the USA with Canada across the bay.   The large tidal ranges, the genuine life style of original Maine, the working water front of fisherman, lobsterman, and scallop draggers are all parts of this beautiful coastline. A location and community that creates a fertile environment for artist development with artists and gallery sprinkled around the area. There are amazing scenic coastal hikes and small towns just about any direction you look.  There is also boat to plate fresh seafood and a walking community that everyone will know you by your first name by the end of the week. Eastport is indeed a destination in itself, a great place to come explore all the beauty, culture, genuine nature of the people, and also grow artistically and have an opportunity to show your work in a gallery and share what you experienced exploring this area with the community. This is a destination class that allows you to immerse yourself in a beautiful and culturally rich area.  It also provides the opportunity to focus on a craft you love for over a week without distraction. Our goal for you is to provide an opportunity to experience a new area, experiment, explore, and expand your artistic vision, adjust your skill set, and hopefully provide a few new skill arrows to put into your quiver to use in the future.

This Summer class is full of activity.

WHAT TO BRING

It can be cool during the mornings and evenings as we are on an island surrounded by very cold water.  We will also have several hours of walking during our daily photo shoots with a couple days of hiking on rocky shores or wooded paths.  The weather in summer is usually sunny and warm with cool mornings that might require an light jacket and quickly warming up to 70's  and again cooling at night. However a trip on the water or an afternoon ocean breeze can drop temps by 10-20 degrees due to the cold temperature of the water.  Bring layers so you can adjust clothing as needed. Also, there are several restaurants & shopping opportunities in town that are all walkable but many of our photo shoots require you to bring your own personal vehicle to get around. We will try to car pool.
