Susan is a year round resident of Eastport, Maine. She grew up surrounded by music, art, and books. At a very young age she spent hours drawing and illustrating her own stories and was encouraged to take art lessons at the Morristown Art Association. Beginning in 1972, Susan studies for five years at Paier School of Art in Hamden, Connecticut.
Susan says her art reflect her passion of how light can add drama to everyday glimpses of common scenes. "When working with pastels, I become immersed with the interplay of warm and cool color, atmospheric effects and soft edges. The texture and color choice of my paper sets the mood. Often starting with gentle layering over washes, ending with bolder top strokes and pops of highlights." She hopes the realism of her art will communicated the human dialogue evoking memories and emotions of past experiences.
